before and after home pics

We did lots of painting this week so I thought I'd post a before and after picture of our living room. I'll post more soon!

Stay-cation 2010

This year, instead of going to Gulf Shores, we opted (for several reasons--me being largely pregnant and the Gulf oil spill, to name a few) to have a "stay-cation" instead. Corey's parents came to Indy and we worked on the house all week. We painted the entire living and dining room, up the stairs, and the nursery. We also took down old curtains, hung a chandelier, painted the fireplace, and got out all of the baby clothes (seeing the teeny tiny clothes made me really excited for this new little one to be here soon!) I use the word "we" loosely because I wasn't involved in much of the work this week. I did some painting and lots of supervising. Corey and his Dad hung the chandelier for me (and only ALMOST caused a fire.) My in-laws and husband really served me this week by letting my primary responsibility be to entertain the children while they worked. I'm so thankful for all three of them! We tried to mix some fun into the week as well so we visited the zoo, a local pool, some local restaurants and, of course, we shopped. :)

snuggling during a storm

I forgot to post this picture a few weeks ago, but I'm going to post it now so I won't forget this sweet moment. I had our women's Bible study at my house one night so I hurried to get the kids in bed before everyone arrived. I was hoping they'd be quiet and stay upstairs (or at least just stay upstairs) during the study, but it started to storm and my kiddos don't like thunder. (Drew says, "I don't wike funder.") Since I was in the middle of trying to lead our discussion, I went upstairs and asked Ty if he would snuggle Drew for me so he wouldn't be afraid, and Ty was more than happy to help. I was so proud of him that night for being such a great, protective big brother. I took their picture after all the girls left...

4th of July

There are lots of reasons why we love our new neighborhood, but the block party on the 4th gave us just one more. One of our neighbors organized the whole thing with a bounce house, picnic, parade, and even t-shirts. And it was a PARTY! The morning began with a parade involving all kinds of festively decorated "floats"--bikes, strollers, wagons...even dog strollers (I'm not kidding!) The entire evening concluded with fireworks, which came with mixed reactions from the crowd...
