Quiet = Mischief

I love the quietness that comes at the end of the day when I put my kiddos in bed and sit down (probably for the first time all day). It is a serene, wonderful quietness. But that's not the kind that happens during the day. When it's quiet in our home (other than nap time), Ty is usually up to something. So, today, while I was feeding Drew, Ty got really quiet. Since he was in the kitchen only a few feet away from me, I didn't think there was anything he could get into, but I was wrong. When I went to check on him, he had a pack of watermelon gum, he was licking a piece of it that was still halfway in the wrapper, and there was an empty wrapper next to him on the floor. Oh, and his breath smelled like watermelon! I think he ate a piece of gum! Should I be worried? Growing up, I always heard that if you swallowed gum, it would stay in your body for seven years. Did grown-ups just tell kids that so we wouldn't do it??? I'm not sure, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow! (I'll be on the lookout during diaper changes!)

that face

I love those lips, those cheekers, that chin, that sweet nose...

then and now

then (9 months)
and now (21 months)

Oh my, how time really does fly! Look at my precious, bald little baby!!! He's getting so big! I notice it the most when I look at him in the mirror while I'm holding him. He looks so long! Corey and I are in awe of how quickly he's turning into a little boy! I love watching him discover the world around him and hearing his vocabulary developing. He does a lot of repeating these days--usually the last word or syllable (if it's kind of a big word) that we say. For example, I'll say, "Ty, you are so cute," and he'll say, "cute." It makes me laugh! Yesterday, he learned the word "eyebrow," and loves to point to mine or Corey's. Today, he discovered the elephants on our shower curtain and shouts an emphatic "elephant!" whenever he sees them. I think he learned the word elephant from his Baby Noah DVD, which he loves! (I can't wait to take him to the zoo this summer to see all the animals!) I may have mentioned this, but he loves airplanes! He loves to see them in the sky and gets really excited when he hears one from inside! He's pointing to one in the picture above.

It's always funny (and so adorable) to hear little one's speak. Here are a few of my favorite words Ty says: "awefome" (awesome), "Wee Vee!" (T.V.), and "IPod". I just think it's great that my not-even-two-year-old knows what an IPod is (and will probably know more about technology than I do)!

Anyway, I am just so thankful for the privilege it is to be a mommy and for my two precious boys! I'm so in love with them!

soooo tired

This is my very tired little one. He missed his nap today and fell asleep during dinner. The funny thing was, his eyes would get heavy and close, and then he'd wake up a few seconds later, look at me and giggle. This happened over and over. I had to take a picture!

We did it!!!

Well, I did it! I ventured out with both kids today on my own, and...we made it! We went to the mall, the post office, and Whole Foods! I put Drew in the Baby Bjorn and Ty in the stroller (since we don't have a double stroller yet--I think I'm getting one this weekend!) It was great and sooooooooooooooo wonderful to be out of the house!!! Ty was awesome (and when I told him that, he repeated, "Awesome!" I love hearing him say that word!), and sweet little Drew just slept through it all! The funny thing was that two different people thought that Drew was a stuffed animal! Okay, so he WAS wearing a little brown sleeper with a hood that had ears (don't be nervous, it's from the Gap), but who in their right mind would go through the trouble (and embarrassment) of strapping a stuffed animal to themselves before going out to run errands? I just wanted my baby to be warm!!! Oh well...at least we ventured out, and I know we can do it! Nothing can stop us now!
