Sitting up and on the verge of crawling...

I just wanted to add a few new pictures of sweet baby Ty! He is just so fun! He is so smiley and so playful! He loves to be tickled, and he loves when we “get him”. I can say, “I’m gonna get you…” and he closes his eyes and smiles, knowing that I’m about to pretend to eat him! (It’s fun.) He is soooooooooo on the verge of crawling! He can’t crawl just yet but he is VERY mobile! The person can get anywhere that he wants to go! I’ve seen him slide (inch, army crawl, “do the worm”) all the way across our living room! And, he just started sitting up on his own! He still crunches over a little bit at times and he’s not super stable, but he figured out how to do it! We just have to sit near him so that we can break his falls.

The other night, I asked Corey to entertain Ty while I got ready, so he decided to read to him. Okay, I was thinking ”Pajama Time,” ”Dinosaur’s Binkint,” or Bible stories, but then I saw Corey’s choice…”The Younger Evangelicals”…a book he has to read for one of his classes. I think Corey thought it would benefit them both. I think I’ll be in charge of the bed time stories from now on!

December wrap-up

This Christmas season has been full of firsts for all of us! It was our first Christmas as parents, which made it our best Christmas so far! And our moms’ first Christmas as Mimi and Nonna (the Italian word for “grandma”)! Ty’s first tooth pushed through the day before Christmas eve, and the little stinker is now trying to chew on everything he can get his hands on…Corey’s pants, my shirt, our fingers…even our faces!!! He even chews on his sippy cup from which he’s supposed to be learning how to drink water! He’s so funny!

Another big event in our house is that Ty is learning to crawl! Over Christmas, he scooted forward for the first time! Well, it was only about an inch and, really, it was only his knees that moved forward–not his hands–but it still counts! It was his first scoot! Now he has progressed from rocking on his hands and knees to doing an “army” crawl (he pulls with his hands and drags his legs) across the living room floor! He can be very determined to move if he has the right motivation. He’s very interested in the drawer handles on the armoire, magazines, the t.v. remote, phones, anything with a tag, and oh yeah, sometimes toys too!

Here are a few pictures from Christmas time with our family…

First Snow Fall

Well, after a week in the 70’s, we finally had our first snow fall! (I suppose that’s acceptable since it is December now!) It was Ty’s first time seeing snow and we weren’t sure how he would respond, but he was hilarious! We went outside for a family picture but we couldn’t get Ty to look up at the camera–he just stared and stared at the ground! He was mesmerized! We had two neighbors calling his name and shaking one of his toys but to no avail! It was so funny! I think we did catch a tiny smile (while he was looking down)–I think the poor kid was freezing! He was born in June so most of his life has been warm so far! Here he is, looking down at the snow and smiling!

Picture Post

I thought ya’ll might enjoy some recent pictures! These are a few of my favorites! (I think they’re worth a thousand words!)

Thanksgiving

I haven’t written in a while…to be honest, I forgot about our blog! But Thanksgiving was a lot of fun! Ty was the highlight, for sure! He met some new family members (well, he is new to them; they’re not new…) and got passed around! We would have taken lots of pictures but we forgot our digital camera. I couldn’t believe it! Luckily, disposable cameras still exist so we bought one and took lots of pictures. (After getting them developed though, I remembered why I love the “delete” option on my digital!) Let’s see…Ty is doing lots of new things! He’s five and a half months old now! He laughs when we tickle him (that’s mommy’s favorite thing), he rolls over both ways (but he still occassionally gets stuck on his back, like a turtle!), he’s eating mush (rice cereal, applesauce, bananas, peas, sweet potatoes, and sometimes carrots), and he loves to jump in his jumper! He said “dadadadada” and “blehblehblehblehbleh” a few times, and he is trying to scoot (but usually ends up going backwards!). He is starting to observe everything. My favorite thing he’s been doing is reaching up and touching my chin and face when I’m holding him! (Below, he’s touching daddy’s face). Oh, and he found his feet! He’s also a people person and very social! He always stops what he’s doing to listen to people talk and he’ll forgo a nap anytime so he can hang out! Sometimes when we’re out (shopping or running errands), I think he’ll fall asleep eventually, but I usually look down to see those eyes wide open–he is taking it all in!

hanging out with the boys

Ty's thinking, "Damien, you are so intriguing."
